Classic Sunday Pot Roast

1 3 to 5 pound beef roast 

2 teaspoons salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tsp. garlic powder

3 cups beef broth

1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce

2 large white onions cut into 2 inch chunks

1 pound baby carrots

2 1/2 pound red potatoes cut into bite-sized chunk

 Season the roast with salt and pepper

Add vegetable oil to pan and sear roast until browned,

about 3 to 4 minutes each side.

put meat and all remaining ingredients in a crock

pot on low 8 hours.

Season vegetables with additional salt and pepper to

taste and serve hot.

Pot Roast

Rub roast with 1/2 cup seasoned flour*

Brown in hot fat in heavy kettle 20 to 30 minutes.

Add about 1 cup water and any other seasonings desired.

(may add 1/2 cup sliced sliced onion)

Cover tightly and simmer on top of stove or may be baked

in a 350 degree oven.

3 lb. roast 2” thick = cook approximately 3 hours

5 lb. roast 3” thick = cook approximately 4 hours

(for large boneless roasts, allow 1 extra hour cooking time)

*for seasoned flour use 1 cup flour, 1 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp pepper,

   and 1/4 tsp. paprika
